Well, all jokes aside I think the bunny idea may well have been put to rest.

We thought we could accommodate most of the bunnies needs one way or another, but myxomatosis seems to be too great a risk. While the DPI hasn't released myxomatosis here in some time (1080 seems to be preferred at the moment), their website advises that the year ahead will be a bumper year for the spread of myxomatosis in Victoria as we are leading in to a perfect breeding season for it to spread (very wet winter coming in to an unusually humid summer). I'm not sure how effective the vaccines are that are available in other countries, but the vaccine isn't available here.

So, ant on a stick it is then!

Awwww. My kids have always had the non-fur type pets here too. The oldest was VERY happy with it but then she was a bug and insect/slug/snail/lizard freak so.....

The hermit crabs were alot of fun..... until one got out and crawled up the curtain and died in the curtain rod. We completely emptied that room four times to find it (and the fact that the smell drove the children into my bed).

Guinea pigs are cuddly... (though timid and need very gentle handling)... and a girlfriend of mine had hers on a stand with wheels that kept the snakes away, AND she could wheel them into the garage in heatwaves or cold weather.

Hamsters are illegal in Australia Bouncy.

Alot of "introduced" animals are.... or if they have gone feral here they are in the process of being eradicated. Our furry little fluffy native animals dont stand a chance with most of them, either competing for the same food or being attacked by them.

In I'm a celeb get me out of here, they have found non poisonous creatures to use in the trials. All Australian too.
Can't help feeling sorry for those creatures though. Crocs mouthed taped up, creatures squashed by the competitors.
Is there the equivalent of the RSPCA there?
