Here's a slightly less brilliant pic - taken on my mobile so not top quality. a couple of wood burnings I made to hang in the camper. Got to drill and varnish them yet.

Depends on the size and what I'm burning. If I'm using prebought birch shapes and writng sayings on them I can do about 12/hr. If I'm making something from scratch like these then is probably about 20-30 mins per piece with cutting sanding and burning. Gonna try moving on to larger things. I have just done some decorations on wooden bowls which took about 45 mins per bowl.

Whatever I'm making, I just find it a great way to shut off anf chill.

I mentioned that I went out last week with a couple of friends from the camera club. It really was a terrible day for photography (grey, lots of cloud cover, and rainy) but I did manage to get a few reasonable shots;

The HDR experiment didn't go too well but this was one of the better attempts;


This ruined church is tucked away a couple of miles down a wooded single track country lane, in the middle of nowhere. It also lies somewhat below road level so it is obscured by the tree tops as you pass. If you didn't know it was there it would be extremely easy to miss it altogether (my friend did know all about it and still almost drove past). This place is an absolute gem with all four walls standing with patches of moss growing here and there. it is also totally surrounded by woodland and becoming overgrown. Unfortunately, the rain stopped me taking any decent shots of it (I included what I did manage to take in the album to give you some idea of what I had found) but I'm absolutely itching to get back to it in better weather.

I did learn quite a bit from the results (such as I need to reduce the amount of exposure bracketing and take more images with smaller increments), so the effort wasn't entirely wasted.

Thats a great picture. Should be a stunning location for photos in the snow, or in spring with sunlight coming through fresh green leaves.

The building has taken on an almost organic look. I do like old builings like that.

we had a derelict church just like that just down on the road from us on the marsh and some bugger robbed it and put it in the welsh heritage museum in st fagans in cardiff
