Del, we probably won't have a baby, most adopted children are around 2-3 years. We don't mind that though, but it is a bit worrying thinking that they might have memories of what they've been through Just have to help them move on and give them lots of love and laughter, of which we have plenty to spare! All went well today, fully trained to be parents now tomorrow is predicted to be emotional though.

Tomorrow?

Look Dotsie.... think of this child as a glass with a little murky water in the bottom of it (after all its only a few years of cognitive memories...) What you do is pour in lots and lots and lots and lots of clean fresh water into the glass til it overflows.... what happens? You end up with clear fresh water in the end.

Just keep pouring in all your love and that tiny trace of murkiness will disappear in the end. It'll be fine. Dont get nervous about things that might not even be there. Besides... you wouldnt be doing a perfect parenting job if you didnt add your very own bit of sludge to the childs life... Gods knows we all TRY to be the perfect parents... its just not possible... we just do the best we can. You DO know you dont have to be perfect right? You just have to love them. They eventually see past all your imperfections.

It's far too easy for people to just see problems, but you get it Del - they're children, who've had problems thrust upon them. They are resilient little buggers though, especially with me and my sludge to contend with

Not worried about his op but the aftercare might be a bit lacking. Poor love, I'll never make a nurse.

They were talking about forms of abuse But it could have been worse, they didn't sensationalise it & just gave us the bald facts (bad enough). We all felt pretty crappy though. Two days next week & then it's filling out loads of forms, yay!

i know they have to be careful about who they "give" kids to but some of the paperwork seems to be ridiculous.

Well, I don't really mind it. These children will need different parenting, so they need to know (and so do you) if you can cope. Training to be a scientist took way longer, and is arguably a much less important job.
