The Secret Hogfather ceremony was held in a tea shoppe which ordinarily hold about 50 people - about 200 shoe-horned in there so they ran out of tea and chairs and were sending would-be customers around to collect cups and glasses. The Elves screamed out names and people had to push their way forward to receive their gift so it was a bit like being in the shove of a foot-the-ball game
The Miss/Mister/It Discworld contest was great fun and the barbarian who got my Hogswatch gift (a nifty green woolly hat with knitted in hogs) wore it with the rest of his cossie complete with massive war hammer and came 5th!
Met WWD briefly in the tea shoppe and shared a table with him and 2 local grannies who go there every week, but are not Pratchett-fans particularly. One of the ladies (72 years young) went to the same primary school as I did in Plymouth - what a small disc!
Word on the street is that the 2014 convention will likely not be at the Hilton again - there'll be news on that coming out soon and John Hicks was in fine fettle for the Saturday entertainment. I got Turtle Recall, the new Compleat Ankh- Morprok City Guide and Folklore of the Discworld and we'll probably do Hogswatch again next year
