Nice Mycroft! I like old Alison. I LOVE Sam Bush and Dan Tyminsky (the mando players)--those guys are fun. The "original" BG song about the old fiddler has to be Uncle Pen (about Bill Monroe's uncle, Pendleton Vandiver)
FredK, do you ever fiddle for dancers? In particular for Contradance. I've gone to Mpls for dancing a few times, and perhaps I even heard you play. I love Irish and bluegrass fiddle music, so hard not to dance to it!

I have played for dances, both Irish and Old Time. I'm not a regular like the Wild Goose Chase Clogger folks or anything but I've played my fair share. I used to play with a Bluegrass band called The Whistlepigs around here. I'm a mandolin picker by trade, never got the hang of the bow. There's a chance we've met before--small world eh? We'll have to coordinate next time you're in the area!
