Yes, it surprises me, too, that God isn't on the list, although He does a better job of collecting royals than royalties. :D

It was all those ghost writers he used. But talk about milking a franchise!

This seems a very American based list, it claims to be world but

1. No specific date range for the data is supplied
2. No sources are indicated, Amazon.com could well give this list but doesn't represent real world book (or even download) sales

In short I don't believe a word of it
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

I had to look James Patterson up on wiki! The only novel I already 'knew' was Along came a spider which I would have sworn was written by Jeffrey Archer up until now... :P

How Stephen King's come 3rd is baffling - unless they're going on pure book sales and not TV/film adaptations... And I'm pleased to say I'm pretty sure I've never even picked up a Danielle Steel

Shocked not to see Rowling on there actually.

I love Patterson's Maximum Ride series, but never read anything else of his. not surprising he'd make the list. Like stephen King he put out, like, what? 5 books a year? :/

But half of these are 'collaborations' with other authors, as in, "I'll let you use my name and give you a rough outline, and you write the story, and I get 50% of the royalties."

Well, it's this year's sales. So I'm rather shocked to see King that high on the list. Or rather baffled. I miss Goethe, however :D.
