Big changes in my life! I've been laid off after ten years on a job I really enjoyed. But the job was really doing a bad number on my spine since an injury a few years ago, so the down-time is a blessing - a chance to rest and recover and read a whole lot more. It took 5 weeks for unemployment insurance to find its way to my bank account, and it's about 2/3 what I was earning. But my pain is so much less now that I think I may just flat out retire and learn to make do with less.

It takes a while to get used to living like that, Jo. But it sounds like you are better off as far as your health is concerned. Good luck for the future!

I feel like I'm in a lot of pain. Because really I am. A lot. Yesterday I was all achy, thought I over did it exercising the day before. Then I thought maybe I was coming down with what Thing 1 had. But the all over achy has centered in just one spot on my back, about mid-way up on the right side. Doesn't feel like muscle pain or a pinched nerve and prescription strength painkillers aren't even making a dent. Although I think they're the reason why my eyelids feel numb.

Is that around your Kidney area Susanne, I had a similar pain years ago turned out it was my gall bladder was infected, even the strongest painkillers on prescription did not do a lot, go and get it checked out soon if it persists.

I'm gutted I'm gonna miss The Wedding Present on tour - but to be fair I didn't even know they were touring till Dotsie mentioned it so I shouldn't grumble too much I suppose. Even less chance of catching bands now OH is out of the country

It wasn't me but funnily enough my sister in law mentioned that gig to me yesterday but it would mean going to Leeds on a school night ... unlikely to happen
