The video... holy crap! I'm not too bothered by spiders, but we don't have to face anything like that here.

Just think of them as Australian squirrels. After all, they're big and furry and they scamper about really quickly. What more could you want

And this is exactly how Ava would see it. She would happily scoop one of them up and let it run around on her. If there's a spider in the house that needs relocating, she gets the job.

Catch-up - Yep, that's my hand. But they are the most timid and harmless of crabs, not like the things that can take you hand off in Northern Australia or the giant crabs a bit further south.

cheery_j. - I see what you are saying, it is a very big crab, but also kind of dead. Not like mine that was trying to have a go at me in six inches of water just a few hundred metres from where I once hooked a Great White Shark. It could have easily nipped my toes.

Coconut crab. While they're very large, I think that's also an undersized trash can.

This is a Greengrocer cicada I found in the back yard. It was trying to mind it's own business, but a sparrow only a tiny bit bigger than the cicada itself fancied trying to eat it for breakfast, so my attention was drawn by the furious flapping of wings by both parties.

I love the names of cicadas, other forms of the Greengrocer are the Yellow Monday, the Blue Moon and the Chocolate Soldier!

Great video Mycroft, but we don't get them in anything like those numbers here so your ears would be pretty safe! Ours don't sound quite as mournful as those either and to me their chirruping is the sound that lets you know summer has arrived
