Hurricane Sandy - Good Luck Eastern Seaboard

Postby Bouncy Castle » Mon Oct 29, 2012 3:17 pm

Much of New York has shut down ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, which experts fear may become a super-storm when it makes landfall.

Nearly 400,000 people in New York have been ordered to leave their homes, and the city's transport system has been shut down in preparation for the storm.

Taxi driver Peter Franklin describes the atmosphere in the city.

Sheltering in place here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Winds already reaching 40mph, and we've got another 24 hours at least to get through. Highest winds will likely occur after dark tonight - oh joy.

Oh, good luck phalarope. Here's hoping you survive intact, old sausage.

Assuming your internet still works afterwards, please let us know you are OK.

Maryland gets a mention in this report, right at the end.

I get to leave work today at 1:00 p.m. due to the storm. Here in western Massachusetts they are forecasting heavy rain and 60 plus mph winds this afternoon and into tommorrow. I spent most of the weekend cleaning gutters, moving patio furniture and stocking up on emergency supplies. Last year at this time I lost power for 4 days due to the Nor-Easter. Hopefully not so much this time around.
To anyone else in the storms path : be safe.

I have a friend in the hurricanes path, chatting to her last night on MSN she was very worried, but resigned & as ready as she could be for the worst the storm sends them. They live on the coast near Boston.
I hope all in Sandy's path stay safe.
Best wishes,
Tiff

Had first power blip with the electric garage door up :o  Went out to get the mail, neither rain nor snow nor glom of nit.... Won't do that again, will struggle over the mass of crap to get to side door if I have to go out. Winds now hitting 50mph :!:

Stay safe there in Massachussetts - Sandy's a big 'un!
