I wonder why people are allowed to do something like that to helpless children.

Because pets (especially cats) fight back waaay too much when you try to do it to them. Babies don't.

Very cute pic, btw, but he won't be happy when he's grown up and it's shown around at family gatherings. (If I recall correctly from my childhood days, when he's aged around eleven or twelve should do nicely.)
