Terry Pratchett A Blink of the Screen

Has anyone else got this book yet? I am half way through it, bought it yesterday at Smith's, so far I am enjoying the different stories Terry wrote from an early age. I did like the first that he wrote when he was 13 years old.

Got this last week and have flicked through it, read a couple of bits, love "Troll Bridge" and the "Solution" classic joke told well.
Nice to read something different and quick.
Also I don't have to worry about buying "Footnotes" anymore. Especially as I can't understand why it is so expensive?

Because it was the 1st one published for the 04 Worldcon where Terry was one of the GOH's and it was a limited print run.

Sorry Dug, I still don't get it. Here's why;

Regardless of how many books that Terry has signed, people still pay more for signed copies than unsigned. I have just seen a signed slipcase "The Colour of Magic" sold on Ebay for £107, signed Slipcase Thud 1/1 sold for £78. Both of which had only 1000 copies printed and numbered.
Yet OMWF had a 1/1 of 2000 copies, with people requesting and getting in excess of £300 for them. I still question its worth. No offence meant to those who own and cherish it, but I still feel it is overvalued. If anyone can enlighten me on why it's worth it please do.

Fragus, COM did not come out in a slipcase there were only 506 copies printed by Colin Smythe, the most of which went to the states due to a distubution error, which makes them valuable to collectors who want a 1st, the slipcase edition was by Corgi printed for Ottakars.

Sorry Dug, But Colin Smythe was the publisher and didn't print COM, St Martins Press printed them in the USA as it was cheaper to get the print run done. However it was typeset in the UK Colin arranged to have 506 printed with the Colin Smythe details, therefore 4506 printed in total. The 506 were exported to the UK. This makes the original US 1st version exactly the same except the publisher details. Approx 400 were sent to librarys with 106 going to retailers.

It was actually Hill House Publishers (now defunct) in New York who did the publishing according to Colin Smythe, as St. Martins Press were part of the Macmillan group I believe did the runs for the SF book club.

Hill House created the facsmillie version which came with both the kirby and lee covers, they then went under.
