It's great to see kids being involved in reading quality books. I suffer from 'reading deafness' as well and used to read TP books during breaks in the staff room at work. They had a list system for who was to finish their shift early and I didn't realise it was my turn to go home, especially when I didn't hear the phone ring or a colleague telling me to leave.

Had a really nice day on Saturday. Went out to visit family for most of the day, then took the girls to Greenfield Village for their Halloween event. Unfortunately we got rained on most of the night, but at least it wasn't cold. The girls still had a lot of fun, and we enjoyed the night. Wouldn't opt to do it again, but glad we tried it.

What made me smile is that I got a letter from my friend who is now in Scotland (working... got a text message from him when he arrived with the following conversation: "Sorry, do you have any postcards? - No, Scotman write diaries." ) - an actual LETTER! Not a posctard or anything, a real letter! It's been aaaages since I got one, and even though I luuurve postcards, it was a great surprise to find the letter in my mailbox today (It even had a genuine envelope! A brown one! Can you imagine! I know I sound like a 21st-century-brainwashed, but I used to write a lot of letters in the past, and then it changed into emails and the occasional postcard (which still happens relatively frequently), so... I'm just happy about it )

I was watching a programme about lorry drivers the other day (I know how to live!) and had to replay one bit to be sure I'd heard correctly...one driver was making his way off the beaten track and was explaining that he had to look out of the window to get past one section of the track so always drove extra slowly at that point because, as he explained, 'You could end up with a face full of bush...'
