I'm amused at the individual who complained on Points of View - a tv programme, where you can air your thoughts on any UK televised event - that there were too many programmes mentioning the war.
He cited, as examples, countryfile - which is a programme on the countryside and any significant circumstances that shaped the area, and Dr. Who!

Dr. Who? Does he really think that daleks fighting the germans actually took place??? Good Grief!

Congratulations to Pete! I'm not a fan of body building (or is it body sculpting?), personally, but it's still one heck of an achievement.

Well done on selling Odin, Mad. I hope he does go to a good home.

@Mad: Odin is almost as tall as I am! Did someone buy him for at home, or for display somewhere, do you happen to know that?

She bought him for her house, he will stand in her hallway just like people used to do with taxidermied bears. We had a good chat whilst I packed him up and got the box onto the back of the pickup truck she had come with. She will be back later this week and have a look round my personal bear collection., I'm pleased he has gone to a good home.

By the way his height was to the top of his head and didn't include the ears, if I added those on he would be about 2m.

Today I'm looking after my 11 month old nephew, Thorfinn, ably assisted by my daughter (aged 23) who is on holiday. I'm watching her read a book to him which she loved at that age - All Fall Down by Helen Oxenbury - and it's bringing back happy memories - for both of us!

My 25 yr old daughter started screaming in glee one day when we were out. She had found a book she loved as a child. It had been a favourite of all the girls and in turn they read it to the baby below. They had alot of books they did this with... but this book was always done in "Grover's voice" and the tension would build and build "Don't turn the page!!!!!" and they would put the book down and go to walk away.... "No no read me some more!"

H's speech therapist (who we have known for ten years now every two weeks) has become a grandmother for the first time.

When we went to see her she always asks H a leading question ... its part of the assessment and therapy... to get her talking and relaxed... and since it was the holidays H has loads of news and she listened quietly.... and then said "Arent you going to ask me what I have been up to?" and before we could ask she LEAPT up and jumped around giggling WE HAD A BABY!!! waving some HUGE blowup pics sealed in plastic she had printed off. We were both leaping around like teenagers gripping our hands and jumping up and down. I was SO happy for her. She is BEAMING.

She and I have the same sense of humour and I always poke fun at her terrible drawings, or Hayden will get stuck on something and we often end up in tears of laughter.

She has the vowels in huge magnetic letters on a cabinet opposite her desk and when Hayden was stuck on a word yesterday Lorna pointed to a letter on the cabinet and said to H.... "What is THIS Hayden?".... Hayden was quiet and didnt say a word... Lorna said "Sound it out Hayden" and Hayden went..... "Ffffff....eye.... ling..... drawer?"
