We just finished watching the new series in Australia on Saturday. The season itself in terms of story arc was rather meh. Especially writing in a near-divorce in the season opener just to up the 'drama'. And to be frank, the finale, while handling the departure of Amy and Rory well, was rather average by Who standards.
However, Asylum of the Daleks gave a level of horror back to the Daleks and introduced Jenna-Louise Coleman in an interesting fashion, and A Town Called Mercy was a brilliant examination of the Doctor's morality. And while the actual story of The Power of Three wasn't much to write home about, I think we're going to be seeing more of Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, not to mention the story's villains, the Shakri and their masters the Tally.
BTW, before long, I'm going to be watching a quintet of classic series stories: Planet of Giants, The Krotons, The Ambassadors...*twang!*...of Death, Death to the Daleks, and The Greatest Show in the Galaxy.
I've lived for over 2000 years, and not all of them were good ones. I've made many mistakes. And it's about time I did something about that.
