I know, I know, politics is one of three subjects you shouldn't discuss in public--the other two being Kardashians and what the Royals look like naked--but for those who do want to discuss politics here's a place. I'm not a moderator, but if I were I'd just say that all views are legitimate, but crazy, paranoid tin-foil baiting of those you don't agree with won't sit well here, so politeness is a good thing.
Anyway, I was going to post this in the Frustration thread, but I thought this was a better place. I'm frustrated because as a dedicated and fanatical supporter of President Obama, I felt sick at how Mitt Romney totally cleaned his clock in last night's presidential debate. Everything Romney said I find totally odious, and yet he articulated his positions well, was constantly on the attack, and made his points very well, while Obama seemed to simply stand there and take it. Case in point: most of it was done in a split screen view. Whether Romney was speaking or not speaking, he always looked at Obama, creating the impression that was paying attention and respecting his opponent. Whenever Obama was listening, he'd look down. It looked like he was a beta bog being submissive to a pack leader. And when he did speak, he seemed uncertain, distant, and often inarticulate.
It kills me, because Romney said so many things that Obama could have torn him apart on simply by referring to Romney long history of stupid statements. But he didn't. By trying to act conservative, he lost the battle and made Romney look much better in the process. I sure as hell hope that he gets better debate coaches and spends a lot more time boning on his facts (which he often finds hard to remember), or he has a good chance of blowing this thing for good.
