I'm only just catching up on the photos again, but those are brilliant Penners! It's hard to believe you can get such strong scores and still not win...competition must be fierce!

Thank you all. The competition really is very fierce (two of the members have just become Licentiates of the Royal Photographic Society) and I will post the winning entry if I get the chance - it really is something special. I didn't agree with some of the shots he awarded 20's to but it is very subjective with the technical stuff still taken very much into account. This judge didn't seem to mind highlights being 'blown out', for example, whereas most other judges would have penalized quite heavily for this offence. I really didn't expect the squirrel to do as well as it did since it not that technically hard to take, nor is it a particularly good wildlife photo from a purely technical point of view (it is just standing there rather than doing 'squirrelly things', my reflection is caught in its eye - a big no-no, and I was not on an even eye level with it). :D

Ah, reflections, very lomo ;) Mr Dotsie just submitted some lomo-style pics into a competition, so he was probably taking too big a risk, but they were really good!

I will definitely ask him! He might be a bit shy though... Maybe he'll let me put the link up, I don't remember the comp name.

Still waiting for Mr Dotsie's Lomo pics Dotsie. ;) (please, please, please, please)

I've just entered these three into an 'Open' Competition (everybody competes on an equal level) at the camera club. The theme is "Three Photos From One Image" and it is a lot harder than it sounds. Most others are cropping into sections of one picture but I decided to try different post processing techniques to the shot instead and include all three finished articles on one 'canvas' (called a "Tryptich" for the technically minded). The competition is next week so I will post my results then. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Civic Hall Tryptich (From left to right; Black & white leaving isolated red/original pic/Pencil sketch+invert colour hues)
Image

Yet Another Solitary Tree (from left to right; original pic/solarized pic/monochrome with vignetting)
Image

Christ! This Is Harder Than I Expected! (from left to right; original pic/b&w leaving Jesus and stain glass in colour/oil painting effect)
Image

They are all going to be digitally projected so will be appearing much bigger than this. :D
