The tramway museum is bloody expensive these days. We use the caravan site next door but have never felt the entrance fee for the museum was justified.

Wifey and I are a bit pooped today. We finished the front garden last night. It came out quite nice. I'll post a couple of pics on the 2012 pictures thread.

I feel good right now. Because I found someone else who says Wifey. My wife thinks its odd if I don't call her that

Your wives are very good women then . I'm usually just Jules but I get called 'dear' whenever I annoy my husband. He knows I detest it. Thankfully I rarely annoy him. .

Speaking of which, am feeling very happy today. My husband and son are coming home from a few days camping, (school hols here at the moment). They had a bit of a dad's and son's trip with some of his workmates. I'm doubly happy as well because we're off to the beach in a couple of days for some R&R & I desperately need a break from work. There is an incredible amount of babies being born at the moment. 9 months after Christmas, some people might be regretting those festive drinks . Plus, we had a domestic incident the other night which involved an attempted baby abduction. Police, Detectives, Security, crying mothers, upset dads. Management walking around waving their clipboards! Madness. Baby & mum are ok though, for a given amount of ok anyway.

Remember riding on a tram...But the clearest memory is a bloke dressed as a pirate with parrot poo down his back....Very educational

I didn't go.. I had an anxiety attack and couldn't go, I just sent a text to her saying I can't, but I think she might be very disappointed so maybe I'll have to call her to explain it.. gosh I'm not good at this.
I kept thinking What if I don't find the place ? What if she doesn't come and I'm alone there with a bunch of people I can't even remember? (after thinking for two days I was able to remember 4 faces and names only, as much as I tried..)
I know it's silly but I couldn't face it.

OMG !!! But I'm glad they are okay now.

Round here we call management "the gaffer" as in, I'll stand around being useless and telling everyone else what to do. Jobs always go better when the gaffer is not around.
Glad everything was ok but what a horrible thing to happen to the parents, they must be so shook up.

I'm tired. Went out last night to a restaurant in Great Bentley, that I'd never been to before.
The food was absolutely excellent! All the meat is supplied by a local farmer, and the presentation and flavours can not be faulted.
Even though it turned out to be more pricey than normal, I'd give them 10/10.

I've woke up to the police cordoning off the road two doors away from where I live. Even though they've put up the tape and blocked the road off with cars, drivers and pedestrians are still coming up and asking them if they can pass.
Why do these people think that the road is taped off? Thicko's!
I've been watching the forensic crew searching for clues, and taking swabs and stuff. The police even called round to see if our cctv caught anything on camera.
There was an altercation opposite us, and someone was glassed, around 01:20 this morning.
It's quite chilly outside, so I pity the copper that has to stay in the car that's blocking the road!

Feeling sad today as a number of former colleagues have just been telling me how appallingly the interim who's covering my old job has been treating my former team. It's not even a case of dealing firmly with the few who might warrant it. The behaviour described is completely out of order. If that person was a full time member of staff rather than a contractor, they'd be facing a number of HR cases brought by several staff. I still care about my former team even though I've left. If what I've heard is even half true, it's truly shocking. The new incumbent will have to start by offering some serious TLC.

I may well be wrong but I don't think it matters whether the person is an outside contractor or not Toothy, protection policies from this sort of behaviour should still apply to your ex colleagues. They should individually put their complaints to HR in writing rather than conversation. That way it becomes official and some sort of action has to be taken, even if it is to say "Investigated and no action taken" but the situation will stay on record and probably continue to be monitored. If nothing else, HR can ensure that person is not sent again by the contractors. (I did it this way against a VIP customer who threatened me, if I had done it verbally nothing would have been done). The case ended up going all the way to the Head of Security for the company and the Regional Director because of the nature of the complaint. They obviously didn't want to ban him because he was our biggest customer at the time (and money talks over staff considerations/safety) but at least a compromise was met where I don't deal to him any more or supervise the game when he's playing.)

So sorry you didn't go to the reunion Crys but on the other hand I'm not so sure I would have done either. Maybe you could arrange to meet your friend another day or you could both treat yourselves to a little weekend break somewhere nice to catch up?

A little disappointed, before I left to come down to Fantasycon in Brighton, an old friend got in contact to tell me there was going to be a reunion of our old crowd of bikers from the club and cafe, most of whom I have not seen in a very long time so I'm gutted it was today, as there was some I would have really liked to see again as they don't live local.

Watch any TV crime show or film and you'll see that the poilice tape might as well have "Go right ahead and pretend I'm not here" written on it.

Years ago I was living fairly near the Cardiff City football grounds and one day the door was knocked and there was a policeman standing there. He said that he was sure I was aware of the fatal stabbing that took place outside my house and did I witness anything.

It was the first I'd heard of it, but there was a large bloodstain in the road. I felt pretty stupid for being so unaware.

It wasn't even a Cardiff match - Bristol City were playing Swansea there.

Neither do I! It was a pain in those days (early 80s) as there was so much trouble the shops used to board their windows up and the police used to meet the "fans" off the train and escort them en masse to the footie stadium. It was like the early parts of Unseen Academicals.

it was exactly the same in swansea when cardiff came down. you never get this in rugby union, there is enough voilence on the pitch
especially last weeks game when the ospreys played the scarlets (swansea vs llanelli) the ospreys won but there was a fair amount of handbags on the pitch, dotsie would have loved it

I once walked past a country pub just outside Bridgend - they had a sign outside saying that they showed live rugby on their screen indoor and that the speciality of the restaurant was "Roast Osprey". It took me quite a while until the penny dropped.
