Back then when I had watched it, I had thought she was little more than an extra, I'd have never thought she was a real astronaut! (Plus she looked very young! she must have been 37 at the time, but looked at least 10 younger- well that's how I remember her anyway)

I've been introduced to a real-life astronaut and had no idea he was one until a couple of years later. It was Mark Kelly, husband of Gabrielle Giffords the senator who was shot in Tucson.

Wow! How cool would that have been..... an astronaut on Startrek!   I bet she was soooooooo excited!

Better than going into space.

Did you know that when Nasa sent out the call for a name for the space shuttle it was the Star Trek fans who banded together to get it called the Enterprise. :D

I'll try with a question, if anyone's interested in trying :P

As you know, I watch films dubbed in Italian, in cinemas and tv (to watch the original version I need the DVDs).
So, there is one name in common between the Harry Potter movies and the Lord Of the Rings that will not figure in the next Hobbit film. Who is he and why.

Are we talking about the characters names in the Italian dubbed movies rather than their names in the English versions? :?

no, because there would be none in common between Harry Potter and LOTR.
I was actually referring to the voices.

So, the Italian voice actors? :?

I seem to have been on the wrong track altogether.

Although I did discover to my amusement that Madam Pomfrey in the English Harry Potter is Madam Chips in the Italian one. I can almost see the logic there - but not quite.

I don't either, actually  They changed a lot of names in the HP movies, probably because they thought it'd be easier for the children  But they didn't change the names of the LOTR, thankfully :D

p.s. sorry, I said I'm not good at making questions

Out of curiosity and something that I noticed on trips to Europe - it seems to me that most 'foreign' films when shown in Italy and Germany are dubbed into Italian, whereas in the Netherlands that keep them in the original language and use subtitles (or as happened when I saw Harry Potter in a cinema in the Netherlands, you get a choice of dubbed or subtitles).

Is it the case that Italians prefer dubbed to subtitles? I know that just about any Italian films shown in Britain are in Italian with English subtitles. I don't think we are as fond of dubbing over here.

So - to clarify: we are looking for an Italian voice actor who dubbed roles in the Italian versions of both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings? :?

Thanks to my searches yesterday, I now have all the Italian Harry Potter books on my Recommended For You section of Amazon.

Ok I think I've got it. Was it Gianni Musy, who played Dumbledore in the HP movies and Gandalf in LOTR? He won't be playing Gandalf in The Hobbit as he died last year. :?

yep, that's it. And I know how you feel about dubbing, and to you he would have sound strange and alienating, but to italian ears he was really perfect for the role. Can't imagine going to the cinema to see the Hobbit without him, maybe I'll wait for the DVD.

Ok, that proved my abilities to make questions, so I'll leave it to you for the next :D

In my hunt I found an article that was talking about the kid who did Ron Weasley in the HP movies and how he's living in Britain now. :)
