Yes, it's something I enjoy too. Before I had a computer, I used to have a whole bookcase of reference books that got a lot of use if a question came to mind. The Internet makes that so much easier. :D

Here's one that I managed to track down myself a few years back. First a bit of back story. Sharlene and I took a trip to the Navajo and Hopi reservations a few years back and while we were in Hopi, we visited the Hopi guild of silversmiths and bought our wedding rings.

Unlike British hallmarks on silver which give a lot of details, American ones tend to have a lot less info. But our rings both had the word "Sterling" and the silversmith's personal mark.

My question is, can you identify the Hopi silversmith that made our rings from this hallmark?

This is a challenge,it took me a while, but since there hasn't been any customer I've had time to do my research and I think I might have found it. Really beautiful stuff, btw, fascinating.
I think his name is Riley Polyquaptewa, whose hallmark is a bear paw with the word sterling
and the paw in your rings looks very much like this

That's the one! :D

That picture you have posted is a bolo tie by the way. I have a turquoise and silver bolo tie but it's made by L Hechilay of the Zuni tribe. I found a picture online of something almost identical to my bolo tie by the same artist. :D

I love that Native American silver and you can buy it a lot cheaper if you go to the reservations. Sharlene has some beautiful items.

Which 'famous first' astronaut one had an acting role on Star Trek?

What episode of what series of the franchise did this astronaut appear on and what was the name of the astronaut's
character? :)

There is Mae Carol Jemison, American physician and astronaut. She was the first African-American woman to travel in space, and she appeared in star trek TNG 6th season, episode 'second chances', as lieutenant junior grade palmer.
I don't know if she's the 'famous first' you were referring to. I found this on google, but had no idea before, never heard her name.
