People in Ely yesterday!

Postby KarenM » Tue Sep 18, 2012 4:52 pm

Hullo to everyone who was in Ely yesterday!

I was sure I'd read that the lovely people who won the auction to have dinner with Terry were going to be there but I can't find the thread to check.

If you were, this is going to sound stupid but did I meet you?

I was wearing a bright red top and a necklace with my name on (just in case I got lost ;))

Balderdash and poppycock, woman. It was a homing beacon for the bar! ;)

Don't give away all my secrets!

Although saying that, Rob was astounded when I told him I haven't broken in to the bottle of gin he gave me after the con yet!

I was there, I didn't meet too many people though.
I was squirreled into a side entrance as a guest of Sir Terry, and seated up front.
Wonderful experience, but it left little opportunity to socialize.

I did meet a handful of people on the way in that showed me to the entrance, but I honestly don't know who they were, or if they come to these forums.
Aside from that I mostly chatted with my mom(mum) who I brought along, and a young lady who works for the Dignity in Dying charity that was my guide, of sorts, for the night.

You need homing beacons to find the bar?

Of the cathedral exterior, but they didn't allow any photography in the event.
I didn't actually meet them that day either, just attended.
I didn't bother to throw my name in the hat for the drawing to meet him since I already had the dinner with him to look forward to.
Wouldn't want to take someone else's chance to meet him.

That was very generous of you :)

I put my name in anyway but we were with friends who hadn't previously met Terry so we said that if our names got pulled we'd pass it to the friends. As it happens my partner's name was pulled out so the friend went instead (just as well, the friend is male so if he'd been trying to pass as me he'd have looked daft).
