Tino has just arrived at the con and feels a panic attack coming on. Too many strangers
Let's hope this beer Tino has helps ease the nerves and meet what I'm sure are fantastic people

Tony reminds Tino that strangers are only friends he hasn't met yet.

Tino met a bunch of strangers from the forum and seemed to cheer up :D

Toothy has been looking out for board members at the Con and so far has only seen Jason and Vicky. Where is everyone else hiding? :shifty:

Can Toothy give them big fluffy hugs - or pokes if they prefer - from Jules?

They are probably all looking for an 80s New Romantic.

Dotsie finally met Toothy, and she's happy to report that she looked lovely!

Awww, shucks, Dotsie. That's true of you, for sure, not sure about Toothy! ;)

It was fabulous to meet so many new boardies and catch up with some old friends, too. Toothy will give Jason and Vicky a hug from Jules as requested and has a little gift for Jules from Vicky, which she will bring with her to Hamsterjam for the imminent meet up. :D

Will pops in to wish all the UK boardies a very happy August Bank Holiday. :)

Will and Mrs Will have just got back from an exhausting but exhilarating holiday in Shropshire. Will is from the South-East of England and didn't realise there were such big unspoilt bits of countryside left in England south of the Pennines. 8-)

In addition to scenes like the above there are more half-timbered houses than you could shake a stick at, even more castles than in Luxembourg, some crazy places with names like Clun, Snead and Upper Spond, and if for any reason Will and Mrs Will decide not to stay in Luxembourg when Will retires, Shropshire is now a leading candidate.

Jules likes the idea of moving to Upper Spond, but she has finally discovered the perfect place name (and she would so love to have this as her address!): a tiny hamlet called "Straßenwirtshaus"* in the far West of northern Bavaria.

*the best translation Jules can come up with is 'road tavern'

Now why isn't Aunty surprised that such a name would appeal to cheery_j

Aunty does like Will's picture, it looks lovely there indeed!

Will notes that there are a few places named after pubs in Britain too, mainly because the pubs were coaching inns and the village has grown up around them. Will and Mrs Will went through a town called Craven Arms in Shropshire while on holiday - though the actual Craven Arms pub in Craven Arms seems to be out of action at the moment. :(

Will is posting from the office, where he would rather not be on a Saturday but workload demands it. Bah. However, the one thing about working at weekends is that no more work comes in then. So there is some hope of reducing the volume of the "in" tray before the desk collapses under its weight.

Toothy should be asleep by now, but she drops by this thread just to run a feather duster over the sofas and to leave some chokkits on the table to tempt in a few passing boardies. :D

Sjoerd is tempted. But he decides to walk on since he has more than enough chocolate thanks to the sweetie exchange :icon-wink:
