It's funny - if I was on holiday, I'd pick postcards up pretty quickly, but when I'm picking postcards of where I live...none of them capture the true meaning of the place. I should make my own...

There are no post cards of where I live, it isn't important enough. I guess we could take pics of the places we live & print those & send in an envelope instead, Seimi.

I got my postcard from Seimi today!
I scanned the card and the scanner decided to break it into 4 parts, since there were 4 pictures on it.

It's funny this card was sent to me. I know it's the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking, but I would guess that Seimi did not know that 150 of the passengers were buried right here in Halifax. Creep huh?
Thousands of tourists came for the 100th anniversary a few weeks ago.

I didn't know that about Halifax. Belfast opened it's Titanic exhibition a few months ago, and it has attracted thousands of tourists so far. I haven't been yet, but will probably visit it at some point. If you look at the picture of City Hall - the left hand side of it - the new Titanic memorial is there now, with the names of all those who were lost (in Alphabetic order, rather than order of class, as it used to be).

The Crown Bar is probably the best known bar in the city. It's one of the best examples of pubs around Belfast decorated by Italian stonemasons. The Italians were in Belfast doing the work on the City Hall, but went on strike because of the low wages. The city council wouldn't relent, so the Italians were starving. To earn some money, they decorated quite a few bars around the city, with the Crown being one of the best examples. All of these bars are now listed buildings.The Crown is also featured in the film 'Odd man Out', starring James Mason. And in the scene inside the bar, the barman is played by William Hartnell, the first Doctor Who
