Shame  Well FYI, Adam Ant was the bridge between punk and new romantics (did you know there was one? ;) ). He was the dandy highwayman, a king of the wild frontier, a Prince Charming! He liked wearing makeup and fancy dress-up.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as "New Romantics". Wikipedia told me it was a mainly British phenomenon of the early 80s. I was born 1982 (+ in Germany), so I might have missed it.

 I remember the first time Culture Club were on Top of the Pops. I was in work the next day and one of the blokes there was going on about the gorgeous lead singer and how he really fancied her. His face was a picture when someone else said: "What, you mean Boy George?"

*tentatively raises hand*... Atcherly, I was never a new romantic myself. I had to borrow that whole outfit (and make up) from birthday girl, Kath, who was a biiiiig fan. In that gear, I then went to see my boyfriend (who wasn't going to the party). He opened the door and... oh for a camera to capture the horror! ;) He must have thought I was a vampire! I did wonder at the time why he hadn't invited me over the threshold!

Hey Toothy,
Any chance of a "then" and "now" pic?

Adam Ant! What a flashback. I actually met him once. Sat down for a meal with him in a restaurant. I was probably too starstruck to be coherent because I don't even remember what we talked about!

Please tell me that you tried to pay for the meal, but he insisted. In fact, he was...

*DRUMROLL*

adamant!

I'll get me coat...

 Well, somebody had to say it! I don't remember paying a bill, but then I have no memory of actually eating either.

CB, now that you mention it, he does look a bit like Jack Sparrow doesn't he? Or, the other way around I guess.

It was just sheer luck! Kind of a boring story unfortunately. One of my best friends in high school had an older sister that worked at the hotel Adam Ant was staying at. She knew I'd gone to the concert, called her brother, he called me and I somehow got up the nerve to just show up at the hotel. Passed him in the lobby, probably babbled something incoherent at him and he said he was just heading in to have breakfast and did I want to join him. Sat there with him, and now that I think about it I probably didn't eat anything. Someone took our picture before I left and that's the end of the story. He was very charming.
