Snickers bars taste exactly the same in the US or if you buy them in the UK - so do Twix.

And I've seen Cadbury chocolate for sale in US supermarkets.

I've tried Cadbury in the States but it tastes extra sweet. My nieces had some while over there, expecting it to be what they knew but found it so sweet they couldn't eat it. I suspect the recipe has been adapted for the US - no idea why!

Sorry Raptor, but I was born and raised in Ohio, right next door to PA, and grew up eating Hershey's chocolate.
It's just not good chocolate.

They do have some more "premium" varieties now that aren't bad.
And they do make Reese's, which is tasty, as well as my personal favorite toffee bar, Hershey's Skor.

That being said, the standard hershey bar, and kisses are awful.

To be honest, I tend to catch new puns every time I re-read a discworld book, which I find to be a bit of a positive thing since there's always a new joke to laugh/groan at.

Add me to the list please,that makes two sources for 'drop',not sure i can think of another typically Dutch treat,at least not any that we can send through the mail.
I don't think a nice young Gouda or worse a nice raw herring(with ot without onions,i prefer without of course,onions on your lovely raw fish,whoever thought of that... )would arrive in a desirable condition.
Maybe some 'kaneelstokjes'(cinnamonsticks,http://www.jamin.nl/online_bestellen_14420/oud-hollandse-kaneelstokjes.html) or some form of 'spekkies'(Dutch marshmellows,http://www.jamin.nl/online_bestellen_c4838/spek-en-schuim.html)?

Skip the Hershey bar... they're awful.

I'll second that. Vile things.

I heard it was because of the high temperatures in a lot of the US states, they had to by law put in something to the chocolate bars that stopped them melting.

I once sent a boxload (cost me a fortune) of Galaxy (best choco in the world) products to an internet buddy in Arkansas.

They took about 3 months to arrive (gods only knows where they were in the meantime) and arrived in a heatwave.

He told me he had to very carfully pour the chocolate into his freezer!!

Actually, my local newsagent has bags of sweets for £1 - Rhubarb/Custard, Strawbs/Cream, Sherbet Lemons, etc.

That's about as "local delicacy" as you get in Sarf Lunnon!!
