Don't knock it, it'd be good and interest-grabbing training for a real emergency, even if there is a distinct lack of zombies.

Maybe they've been reading too much of The Zombie Survival Guide. Which, incidentally, I am picking up from a bookshop tomorrow, after having ordered it last week. It's scarily competently written and darkly humorous.

But I agree with Del about ironing....a necessary evil to be undertaken only if one is meeting the Queen and has no time to shop for a new frock
According to the movies zombies move really slowly so I'd have a speed advantage there.....hmm? I also have a reserve poker, two pairs of coal tongs and a brush......aha!!

Well, the coal tongs would be used to pluck eyeballs out, but I agree on the brush. That is definitely a noodle implement.

Uh, actually, wrinkles in clothing give more surfaces for the zombies to grab onto. So does long hair. Max Brooks says so.

Long hair yes, but a wrinkled shirt is more likely to sit closer to the body. An ironed shirt will hang loose, thereby providing an easier handhold.
