The Third Person Thread - Part the first

Bonnie agrees with Docandie that living with earthquakes is preferable to being blown to bits by hurricanes and tornados every year. Acutally, Bonnie usually doesn't even notice the small quakes. She glad that Aunty is safe and Will's family activities went well.

The weather has cooled down this last week and won't be warming back up again for a bit. The good side of that is she and MrE got to plant some herbs and salads and the cooler temps will be easier on the new plants. FriendsR&C are sharing part of their large garden plot and even shared some vine ripe strawberries. Bonnie and MrE shared them with FriendsS&R as a topping for vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. *yum! nom, nom, nom!*

Well, MrE has rung the Dinner Bell and it's enchiladas. Bonnie leaves hugs for all and dashes off.

Docandie is sad tonight. Her favorite writer, director, journalist and etc., passed away today.

Several of Docandie's all-time favorite movies came from Nora Ephron, all watched many times and will certainly be watched again.

An odd coincidence - Docandie met Nora's mother Phoebe when she was in Hollywood in 1960-61 at a benefit for the Motion Picture Country Home and Hospital - Docandie's boss at the time was one of the doctors, later the medical director.

Docandie really enjoyed watched the "making-of" Julie & Julia that included a great interview with Nora. In spite of all her successes, she was always quite humble and everyone who worked with her simply loved her.

Bonnie is jumping up and down with excitement. Only a few more hours of work and then she is on vacation for a week. She and MrE will be going down to Orange County for a few days of sun and surf. Well, actually Bonnie does not surf but she does like walking the beach. They will also be meeting up with Munchie (daughter) and MrE's mum. It will be Munchie's first time to visit the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach. Then a few days later Bonnie and MrE will head to San Diego for the day and get to see where Munchie and her hubby live. Bonnie will try to post some piccies if she finds time.

Bonnie and MrE have safely arrived in Orange County and can see the Pacific ocean from their balcony. Erm, she will check in later as she thinks there is a stretch of sand calling her name.

Today Docandie received a postcard from Geek Goddess mailed from Lapland! Looks cool, very cool.

Temp today in Docandie's area supposed to top out at 100°F.

What the future holds.

Needless to say, Docandie is not doing any baking today.

Toothy has also received a pun-derful Goddess card and can't wait to meet up with her and other regular reunioners in Hamsterjam later this year *bounce, bounce, bounce* (er... Now that Toothy will be taking part in Calendar Girls later this year, she's not sure she should be bouncing... )

This is a rest morning for Toothy who has been very busy in recent weeks, with lots of hassle at work and late nights just trying to keep up with her own stuff. She's looking forward to the summer hols as she desperately needs a break, preferably in some sunshine. Although she leaves her current job at the end of August, there is no let up in sight before she goes. What also worries her is that her resignation was the first of 3 at the same level so she's worried about the effect of quantum and butterflies and things!

This has also been party weekend, with 2 very different Big 0 birthday events. Friday was a friend's 40th, karaoke style, and last night was another friend's 50th 'dress to impress' party - talk about extremes...!

Ah well, a leisurely bath is calling Toothy.

Bonnie and MrE made it home safely Tuesday evening only to find that the local weather was in the 100F's. She was happy to sleep in her own bed and finally get a good night's sleep. Fortunately she only had two days of work before the weekend because she had several loads of laundry to do today. While she was busy with that, her landlady's daughter came over to replace both her kitchen and bathroom faucets. The one in the kitchen had started to leak and the one the the bathroom wouldn't stop dripping. Now they are both fixed. Yay!

Bonnie also found a postcard from (((Goddess))) in her mailbox when they arrived home. Woot!!!

During their vacation to Orange County, Bonnie and MrE had fun walking on the beach, watching the brown pelicans flying overhead, having a beer in the Saloon while watching tourists (MrE lived in Laguna Beach for many years and does not consider himself to be a "tourist" now that he's moved north), enjoying the artwork at the Sawdust Festival and visiting with the kids and grandkids.

Bonnie leaves hugs for (((everyboardie))) and runs off to finish laundry.

Toothy is relieved for Bonnie that the leaks have been sorted out. Water is such a demon if left to run wild.

After 2 days at a Champneys spa, Toothy and Mr Totty have returned to the real world again. It was lovely to see Younger Toothlet again, but Elder Toothlet is away with her bf. Toothy expects to sleep extremely well tonight after all the pampering, yoga and relaxation sessions, not to mention the good food which Mr Totty described as 'a bit on the healthy side, but good.' They were able to go for so long as the spa had had a deal earlier in the year where it was possible to buy a two night stay with all meals and full use of the facilities for £139 each and vouchers for £100 worth of treatments for £50. It was too good an opportunity to miss and the stay was very welcome right now with so much going on and stress levels being constantly high. They're still offering the same deals at the moment, but finances don't allow the Toothies to splurge again for a while. They feel lucky to have had this latest treat though.

Today was Bonnie and MrE's 20th Anniversary. They joined friendS this afternoon to walk around town to watch the various musical groups performing for the second annual Napa Porchfest.



Bonnie hopes (((everyboardie))) has a good week and wanders off to watch The Big Bang Theory.

Will thanks Docandie on behalf of Team GB but notes that it is now THREE medals.

Seriously, the bronze in the men's gymnastics was amazing. We never imagined we could outdo the Americans AND the Russians.

Will congratulates Bonnie and Mr E on 20 years! Will and Mrs Will are celebrating an anniversary on Saturday, but Will hasn't got enough fingers and toes to count the years.
