And in Heather's case, there were sometimes Third Thoughts and Fourth Thoughts, although these were quite difficult to manage and sometimes led her to walk into doors

Bosch's work reminds me of both of the Bruegels style of painting. They were probably eating their paint of sniffing something, IMO.

He was high on religion - the Andy Warhol of his age. Philip 'build me an Armada' of Spain was a huge fan of his and avidly collected his work. Seriously, Bosch may have got an occasional buzz from the varnish but he wasn't insane as some pundits once thought, it's just that in an age where the Inquisition flourished and Protestantism was fighting to emerge hellfire and brimstone were in vogue and illustrations thereof extremely popular. Also people tend to think he did all these huge canvases but in fact his most famous work is relatively small - the Garden of Earthly Delights the central panel of the triptych that the above pictures comes from (the right board depicting Hell) is just above the 2 metre height and the amount of detail on it would have been lost on most people if it had gone onto the altar of the local church which is where most artwork was generally destined back then - Phil was in fact one of the earliest Getty-style art collectors...

I saw this recently and thought that it probably wouldn't get past the PC brigade of today.
