. . . and the best solo, goes to

Postby Tonyblack » Mon May 07, 2012 5:06 pm

I had this idea when watching YouTube, for us to post videos of what we consider to be the best solo performance of a particular instrument. :)

Let's start with Drum Solos.

I'd like to nominate Carl Palmer for this energetic piece starting at 2:43 from Karn Evil 9.

Can you beat it?

Australian band Midnight Oil doing a live performance of Power and the Passion. Drum solo by Rob Hirst at the 3:13 mark. Not overly long for a drum solo but still very good.

I was going to post Ric Lee from 'Ten Years After' but you know how looking at one thing on You Tube leads to looking at another.........

I haven't got my headphones so I can't check it, but I seem to remember I used to love Cliff Burton's bass solo in Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth).

What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Weren't a couple of drum solos in the Youtube thread, or somewhere else? I recall them being excellent and worthy of being here.
