Like Wheres my Cow i thought the whole Pooh book thing was a commentary on childrens book. In the Uk theres a big trend in childrens books about poo (not the bear) and Terry does do social commentary . Maybe its bypassed the states but you'd be amazed at the amount of mainstream books available as highlighted below.

Willem, that's a different title to what I've read that book as. In Australia, it's published as "The Mole who knew it was none of his business". And yes, it's all about different types of poo.

Another reason for me to dislike Snuff. I kept wondering why there was so much discussion of poo in general and this kind of book in general, and here we have it--like "Where's My Cow" and the Thud board game in Thud!, they're included as product placements. While these placements were forgiveable in Thud because that book is a masterpiece and these products are integral to the plot of the story, "The World of Poo" does nothing to advance the story in Snuff.

The Thud game predates the book by several years. In fact this example is the other way round as the book was inspired by the already existing game.

However "The World of Poo" sound like a crap book.

On this subject, while I was at the Wetlands Trust the other day, a family with a very young child (about 3-4 years old) were sitting in the hide overlooking the lake. The kid had no interest whatsoever in watching the birds but was very keen to point out all the poos left behind by the ducks and geese. Having read "Snuff", I had to leave because having to stifle my laughter so much was starting to hurt.
