I've looked at that vid four or five times now. Do you think it could have been photoshopped (or the video equivalent)?

Don't think so. But how should I know?

You want speechless? Try this one on for size:

http://bigpondnews.com/articles/TopStories/2012/03/29/Surf_lifesaving_death_third_on_Qld_beach_734310.html

This is the third such death of a lifesaver competing on that damned beach. And the second in as many years. :x

I can understand wanting to train lifesavers in adverse conditions and all, but this is competition!

Tragic, could have easily been avoided if they'd just changed the location.

This, however, I found a little creepy:

Ralph Devlin, a life member of Matt's Maroochydore club, said the pain of his loss was enormous.

'... the comfort we take is that now Matty Barclay is frozen in time as a 14-year-old beautiful young boy,' he told reporters.

God, I hope he didn't mean it in the creepy way.

But seriously, they only finished the inquest into the second death fairly recently. Clearly, nothing has been heeded. A QC involved with the inquest into the second death said that the organisers should be charged with manslaughter. I read this in the Gold Coast Bulletin. He also reckons that the clubs care about sponsorship and thus finances more than safety. :? Ironic, given that they're lifeguards.

Indeed. Sign of the times that the almighty dollar/pound/whatever is the focal point, and to hell with human life, even if saving said life is your Raison D'être.

Amazing what happens. I wonder what might be out there when I walk the Yorkshire Moors! Fortunately I always take a good knife with me (emergencies you understand..someone has to peel an apple)

I'll often see warning signs against mountain lions and bears in Tucson - and even rattle snakes. :D

So much for the Lion keeping the Bear at bay.

So, where do the mountain lions get high? Do people give them marijuana or something? :?
