Scale: Magnitude 9.0 (5th biggest earthquake ever recorded in the world)
Ground shear: Ground moved 5.3 metres eastward and fell by 1.2 metres in places
Aftershocks up to last Saturday: 232 measuring 4 or more on Japanese scale (approx = 5.5+ Richter scale)
Height of tsunami: 33 metres (in that town in the video)
Flooded acreage: 561 square kilometres
Death toll: 15,854
Missing: 3,155
No. of evacuees: 468,653
Children who lost one or both parents: 1,600
No. buildings completely destroyed: 1,168,453
Amount of debris: 22.53 million tons

This year is the 20 year anniversary of hurricane Andrew coming through here. there are places that still show signs of the damage.



The Homestead air force base mentioned actually was rebuilt, but it was no longer an air force base, instead an air reserve base and the fighters stationed there were transferred to Italy. and it took two years to rebuild.

heh, yeah. i was further north so damage wasn't as bad where i lived, but still bad. trees down, all the shed in people's yards destroyed. stuff like that. i found a lawn mower engine in my front yard, never found out where it came from.

Neither. It's punctuation, which a lot of the people on the internets (not anyone here, really) only have a tenuous grasp of.

But seriously, Zeus is pretty much a d**k of a god (he wasn't alone in the Greek pantheon by any means, though). But then again, if he exists, so too is God. Or at best, apathetic.
