Looks a bit like one of those Dangerous Books For Boys covers - a real 1950s style.
Where did you get that picture from, Dave?

Poor June. Won't she object?

Yep, left myself walk right into that one, didn't I?![]()
Raisindot, I was piqued by what was in the books Young Sam was reading. I;d be interested to see what this has in it (yes, I know, it's poo!) but it seemed to hint at how sanitation works and other matters relating to poo. Could be instructive!
J K Rowling did it with Tales of Beedle the Bard, so I don't see why Sir T can't do likewise with Felicity Beedle books!

I have nothing against poo books, other than not being a fan of the end product. (ba-da boom).
I, too, thought Pterry was mentioning the poo book in Snuff simply as a commentary on the idea that there are children's books on just about every topic. If Pterry had decided to write a standalone kids book about poo, I wouldn't have minded either--wouldn't have bought it, but wouldn't have cared.
It's the fact that he takes a subject that isn't particularly central to the story--poo and books about poo--and uses it to flog the sales of the separate book he's writing about that gets my goat. I'd feel a lot less bothered by it if he had written a separate kids book about goblins, since they are at least a central theme in Snuff. And maybe I'd be less bothered by it if I felt that Snuff wasn't one of Pterry's worst books in ages. But that's just me. Your kilometerage, of course, may vary.
