Dream casting

Postby Fortune Clutterbuck » Wed Feb 29, 2012 5:04 pm

I was rereading Feet of Clay and suddenly the voice of Nobbs morphed in my head into Baldrick from Blackadder - I can also see Judy Dench as a fine Granny Weatherwax with Victoria Wood as Nanny Ogg

Who would be your dream cast for any of the Discworld characters?

Brian Blessed as Ridcully ;)

:text-yeahthat: hands down.

And I'm all for getting the young man who played Rincewind in the fanfilm for that very role again.

I always saw Maggie Smith as Granny. Her expressions of haughtiness and effrontery are second to none :D I quite liked David Jason as Albert, I think Baldrick is too gormless and dim. Agree with Brian Blessed.

I think all the suggestions have good points but I would like to throw in another couple in for the witches.

June Brown as Granny Weatherwax. I know she is now a regular in East Enders (A tv soap here in the UK) but, despite this, her acting is really very good *ducks from the stones thrown by East Enders fans* (she was also Nanny Slagg in Gormenghast). :D

Image

Miriam Margolyes as Nanny Ogg. She was in a couple of the Harry Potter films but don't let that put you off. I have seen her on a tv chat show and I thought she was so made for the part. (See the abbreviated clip here if you want a giggle)

Definitely agree with Brian Blessed for Ridcully though! :D

I have to say I never saw Nobbs as being full of gorm ... I never took to David Jason as Albert either but in his younger days he would have made a great CMOT Dibbler

Applaud Maggie Smith for Granny and Miriam Margolyes for Nanny!

How about Benedict Cumberbatch for Moist von Lipwig - the face might be a bit too distinctive though

Not an actor, but everytime I go through reaperman and get to the parts with Azrael i cannot get the image of the King Of the Cosmos out of my head.
