Gotta lurve DA on TV - even if Steve Mangan lacks the girth he's still a pretty great Dirk

I liked the pilot from a few years ago - it definitely had the right spirit, even if the details of the plot & characters were significantly different to Douglas Adams's books. I think it's great that they've managed to find the time/money to make a few more.

I have to say that I didn't much care for the books and thought the pilot episode was actually better than the book. I thought Addams writing was going downhill during the later HHGTTG books and, although there were some inspired moments in the two Dirk Gently books, they were a shadow of his best stuff.

But the pilot episode was clever, funny and very well cast. It's a great basis for more of the same and new adventures by different writers. I hope the series (or whatever it turns out to be) will be as good or better than the pilot. :)

Never knew! I'll have to see if I can get hold of it here.

I don't mind a bit of the old fundamental interconnectedness of all things. Love the books.

Plus, have been watching Steve Mangan in Green Wing. He's quite funny.
