New Pratchett for 2012

Postby Tonyblack » Mon Feb 20, 2012 5:38 am

I wouldn't normally do this, but here's a link to a thread on the Cunning Artificer's site showing the new books and Pratchett related publications for this year.

It seems to be:

7th June - The World of Poo.
21st June - The Long Earth (with Stephen Baxter)
13th September - The Compleat Ankh-Morpork
11th October - A Blink of the Screen: Collected Short Fiction
18th October - The Complete Discworld Companion (with Stephen Briggs)

Can't they switch the map with the poo book? Would make the google-maps project much faster
/two cents
Is there already a text sample from Long Earth out, by any chance?

EDIT: How exactly will the poo book be worth buying more than this and the books in the related items list?

So no new Discworld novel? That's not a good sign.

The only one I did not know about is the World of Poo the rest I had already posted about on this forum, all sounds great and I can't wait. :)

£12.99 for 128 pages? Bit expensive. Hope it's a good'un.

I'm wondering if The World of Poo is a sort of sequel to Where's My Cow.

At 128 pages... maybe a diary/almanac kind of thing?

I bet you it's just again a cash-in on an actual book and I fail to see how someone could consider his Discworld collection 'incomplete' without it

I'm guessing World of Poo might be "written" by Vimes's kid.

I was hoping the Bestiary Ian is working on would be out this year. But I see on the other thread that it's due out next year.

To be pedantic , it should be by Miss Felicity Beedle.

Yes, if it is a sort of sequel to Where's My Cow, it' represents the type of book that young Sam is reading (being read to) when the story it spins off from takes place.

I have no problem with this sort of book. Maybe it can been seen as a "cash-in" but nobody is forcing anyone to buy it. If people do want to buy it, then good luck to them. I know that Where's My Cow was very popular with Pratchett readers. As were such other 'spin-off' books etc. such as the Discworld Map, Nanny Ogg's Cookbook, Folklore and Science of Discworld books and, of course, the Companions. :)
