Writers who said they love Sir Terry

Postby noelu » Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:32 am

I just read my first Discworld book (Guards! Guards!) and I'm eager to explore more. ;)
I read in an article that said Sir Terry is widely beloved among authors. Who are these authors?
I know the Russian fantasy writer Sergey Lukyanenko and A. S. Byatt said Sir Terry is their favorite.
Have you heard of other writers praising Sir Terry Pratchett?

Well Bernard Cornwell for one. When asked who his favourite character in another series of books is, he said Samuel Vimes. :)

Neil Gaiman probably likes him, since they wrote a book together. Welcome!

Kathy Reichs mentions a Pratchett book in one of her novels. ;)

They say Charles Dickens was a big Pratchett fan. Always very ahead of his time was old Chas.
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change? ~~ Oddball

Actually the shooting style of Going Postal TV series did remind me of Dickens' stories!

I just read an inverview of Brandon Sanderson during his visit to the Taipei book fair. When asked about other writers' works, he said that Sir Terry always amazes him. ;) Here's his review on Men at Arms: http://www.brandonsanderson.com/article/34/MEN-AT-ARMS-by-Terry-Pratchett

Thanks for kind words, spideyGirl! ;)
But I think that I have to prepare people about my possible (variety!) mistakes! :) And I will be very glad if anyone will correct me. I am not bad at reading in English but writing&speaking is difficult for me so far. ... Sorry for off-topic post. :)
Best regards! :)
