Well i agree in general. I like to collect the original hardbacks but tend to ignor ethe newer versions such as the black covers. I suppose for someone starting out the fresh covers can be nice

Nobody is making anyone buy the new versions. It's up to the individual and the bank account whether they buy these.

Considering the fact that Harper Collins have been taken over by Transworld, I wonder if these new covers will be available in the US.

They certainly had the Kidby cover for Snuff.

The books themselves weren't that expensive...it was the shipping that gotcha. I think, on average, I paid about $4 per book, which would include shipping for that book. So, multiply that by every book through TFE (except for Pyramids) and it comes to over $100. A sizeable investment.

You might want to take a look at amazon.ca. They often carry the original British versions of books and the shipping is far less.

oh, thats not bad. getting them new at barnes and noble or books-a-million is about $8. and i only need the couple, IE the illustrated ones. even though i hate the covers they don't bother me enough to HAVE to import (simply reading them will just damage them anyway). the only time i would do that is to get the black cover night Watch (signed if possible) as a collectable cause its my favorite but thats it.

Is it down to Sir Terry, though, or the publishers just wanting to cash in? I really don't know how much say Sir Terry or his agent has in these matters (although I can't really see them complaining about increased sales from this either).
