Thank you all for your support. "Catching the Rays" and "Batty's Tree" are in an inter-club competition against nearby Southwick tomorrow (Tue 6/12). I only submitted those two for the selection process and they were both approved by popular vote. I will let you know how I get on tomorrow night when I get back.

As some of you might know, I have been trying to take night photos for an upcoming 'After Dark' competition. This competition is 'open' so I will be competing directly with the advanced (almost pro standard) photographers. Rather than post them in the photo thread, I thought I might as well post them here. I don't need your votes as I've already decided which three to enter this time, but I would appreciate any feedback or criticism since I've never done this before and was trying new techniques.

Firstly - belated congratulations (((hugs))) and for missing it altogether until just now - I think I must go around this forum in blinkers sometimes

For me the Moons a Balloon amazing because of the warped perspective and the symmetry of the lights - there's something about purply oranges. The Colour of Magic maybe? Ah no - that's purplish green But that moon's a definitel winner. I like Night time Rocks as well. Great frozen waves and a pier shot always pleases

I like them they are really good the bus is that the Albion Hotel in front, good beach shot with the rocks, but my favorite is the last one with the moon and the bus 2nd, the Purple haze could be mistaken for Margate (if it wasnt for the long pier) looking from the Rail station end to the winding road going up and out to Westcliff.

Thank you. The view from the night bus is indeed the Albion Hotel and taken from my normal seat when going home from work at 2:30 in the morning; I initially took it to judge whether my light reading guess was accurate. I was hoping to take shots of the bus in motion but these didn't come out too well since the road was too bumpy.

Re "The Moon's a Balloon", the street scene was taken with a fish-eye lens and then I added one of my moon photos to it afterwards. I've never done this before and I'm glad it seems to have worked out (arty style shots and post editing aren't my strong points). I really wanted to include a moon photo but on its own it would not have scored with the judge; hence this attempt.
