My story of finding DW:
Hm... I think I read my first TP book (Color of Magic) somewhere in the mid 80s, when I was a kid, maybe early teens. Found a translated book in the local library and simply gobbled it a couple of times. But alas, the library never extended the series with more (only as an adult did I figure they only translated 1, maybe 2 of the first books into Danish at that time).

So, I forgot all about the series, and somehow got back on track much later, in the late 90's I think. Can't remember how I managed to relocate it, but (re)read Color of Magic in original language this time and something went 'ding' at the back of my head. Had a 'darn copyists' kinda reaction XD Although I did not remember why I thought that. during that book it finally dawned on me that I had read it before ...*somewhere* ... I think it was Luggage that finally gave it away

Then I set out on a quest to get the series as it were around millenium (so while everybody else spoke about Y2K bug, I thought in DW terms), being a poor student I could only afford 1 trip a month to the book store ... where I could grab a handful of books, so took me around half a year or so to get up to speed with DW series. Been bit easier to follow since then XD

..... and now I find myself thinking I should get an extra copy of those most cherished books... as some of them are in bit of tatters from the reading

I try VERY HARD not to crease the books if I can help it and I am preparing to buy replacement for the spines that have creased badly.

I do not read my two signed copies. They are pristine in plastic bags!

If Im honest I treat books pretty badly , some books I have special additions of like my 1910 copy of Pride and Predudice or my collection of war poems from 1914 , but other than that I use and abuse them for me they service a perpose. But I dont get attatched to stuff very easily any way .
I cant even remember why I started to read DW if Im honest I hated it when I was younger, then I think I was curiouse when I was about 16 and started to read Pyramids and I think that was it, I was hooked but very privet about my addiction.

I am thinking of maybe getting the new releases of DW - the one with black cover and some art stuck on the front. I liked the idea of an "adult version" for Harry Potter (actually, I think that one is much prettier than the various kid's versions) - my only gripe with the release of DW "adult cover" is... it's rather ugly. Almost tossed them across the room when I saw them in the bookstore a few days ago >.<

Hello all, just poking my nose around this place after searching in Google for Terry... oh well what have i gotten myself into this time.

Anyhow... I was Year 9 or something in boarding school. I was waiting for him to finish his game on the first Playstation. My friend had a copy of Interesting Times on the shelf. I picked it up, looked at the cover and I thought "Oooo pretty pictures.. with wizards. running for their life." so i picked it up and started reading.

Nope, I had no idea what i gotten myself into then, either.

I first got into Terry Pratchett through my mother who's been a fan since the colour of magic first came out. It's not unknown for myself, my mother and my brothers to all pick up copies the day a new book comes out
