Our state flag has our coat of arms on it.

That coat of arms looks like it should go on and on with strange black creatures holding smaller and smaller shields

So the state flag of Queensland contains the Queensland coat of arms, but the city arms of Groningen contains the Groningen city flag. To my mind, this just emphasises the difference between flag and arms.

And gets us no further forward with my original question.

The Mad Collector wrote:I do have the flag of Ankh Morpork as approved by Terry :) , but its packed :( and not even here s it's in storage  . However I can confirm that it has the coat of arms on a blue ground :) a lot of city flags are like that.

Now we're getting somewhere, and sorry for missing your post earlier. I take it there's a fair amount of red in it, too, as the only description I can find in Night Watch is that the red of the flag in Tilden's office is "faded to a threadbare orange"?

Ah yes, thinking about it there were two versions done, one on a red background and one on a blue, this is quite a while ago. I bought the blue one which is the Ankh-Morpork Merchant Ships Flag of Convenience. (for hanging in your convenience :D ). The red one was the main flag of the city sorry for the confusion there, if everything wasn't packed up ready for my move I could have checked before posting.
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

I think those black birds are meant to be eagles :P They are a bit rude though, sticking out their tongues like that :P

What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

What makes me wonder: If the coat-thingy is at work again, do they now have a bunch of fourecksian animals?
