BTW, who's Hugh Griffith? That's not the old Antiques Roadshow guy is it? :oops:

Thanks for making me feel really old!

Hugh Emrys Griffith was one of the grand old English actors like Michael Hordern who was in just about every great brit film and TV series going in the 50's to the 80's. He was in Ben Hur as the owner of the chariot horses (Aldebaran, Altaïr, Antares and Rigel :lol:

) that Ben raced and got an oscar for that role and he was Albert Finney's potential dad-in-law in Tom Jones. One of his last roles was as the Vogon captain who chucked Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect off his ship after demolishing the Earth in H2G2 the classic TV series but he didn't look much like Oin in that, being green...

Don't think I have seen him then. Not seen Ben Hur all the way through, last time I tried my tape but out half way through. I have only seen the Hitchhikers film with Bilbo, not the series.

Nope - they had their own variety that's all. :wink:

Dwarf bread lasted as long as Lembas (the Elf bread made from the wheat brought over from the Undying Lands by the Naughty Noldor when they rebelled) but wasn't as nice - very, very hard in fact and so it was great to take travelling with you to encourage you to live off the land unless you were really desparate... :twisted:

I think in the Trilogy Gimli makes an aside (to Legolas or Aragorn) about it being hard as iron and useful for braining orcs

Terry knows ME very well indeed :wink:
