I'd rather have a re-booted Dallas than all these "reality" shows any day of the week.

You can NOT be serious. Even the majority of reality TV, puerile and putrid though they may be, are miles ahead of a friggin' soap opera!!!

Yes, I am serious.

I'd much rather put my feet up and enjoy an hour's worth of escapism, than watch 2 minutes of "reality" TV, because the likes of Dallas is entertainment, and just that. It's not real.

I know shows like Jersey Shore are scripted, Big Brother is people showing off, but to me they are all just a sad reminder of the level to which humanity has stooped in order to get fame and fortune, and the fact that half the viewers are stupid enough to aspire to be like these numpties is, quite frankly, frightening.

I'm pretty sure that the 80s/90s didn't spawn a whole generation of people who wanted to become JR.

Well, Q's last point may be valid, but I say that soaps are definitley less toxic than reality shows. Reality tv just makes me want to, well, switch the tv off (in an aggressive manner, but not too aggressive, because it's my tv after all). But I do think that people who watch soaps religiously often get a bit confused about what's real and what's pretend.
