Not really but it would help as some kind of follow on or events are quoted in others and you might find it a bit puzzling.

If you start on Reaper Man you would miss out a bit on Death's past as he is the only charater to appear in all the books, a bit difficult to say where when I don't know how many or what books you have, ie it would not be a good idea to read Men at arms before Guards,Guards as they are watch books.Heartsfan2 wrote:so what is the name of the one you would recommend i start on? and by the way does it matter what order i read Discworld in?
