Got a large vase of flowers on my (reception) desk at work, and didn't realise that when cleaning it out, I'd cracked the glass.

Water dripping all over fax machine :oops:

and to my horror, my paperback copy of Men at Arms.

Off to Amazon I go........................

That sucks . Poor book. I got a paperback version of Lords and ladies ruined in a storm in florida but it was the crappy Yank art cover so i would probably have changed it either. Books and water don't mix. :roll:

They probably are not. Particularly as the Kindle has a built-in battery. If you get an electronic device wet the first thing you should do is get the battery out, then flush it with de-ionised water and then dry it out in an airing cupboard for 24 hours having shaken as much water out as you possibly can. You'd be surprised how many devices still work after that sort of treatment.

iPods have built-in batteries and if you get them drenched they are dead as a dodo.

Not quite on topic, but close enough anyway:

When I was working as an On-Street Parking Attendant (a.k.a Traffic Warden) I managed to destroy three hand held computers, which were meant to be water resistant, by continuing to work in the rain. These computers were used to log parking violations and record the tickets issued for the fines, all the details of which were lost on each occasion. :lol:
