They probably are not. Particularly as the Kindle has a built-in battery. If you get an electronic device wet the first thing you should do is get the battery out, then flush it with de-ionised water and then dry it out in an airing cupboard for 24 hours having shaken as much water out as you possibly can. You'd be surprised how many devices still work after that sort of treatment.
iPods have built-in batteries and if you get them drenched they are dead as a dodo.
