The Frisians have their own language

Some of my ancestors came from Friesland. My mother encountered the name Sjoerd in some family archive and thought it was a nice name, and named me Sjoerd

No,Sjoerd of course is named after the horses...Aren´t you Sjoerd??

Any of you ever seen Fresians?They are bloody beautiful animals-and bloody impressive,too,especially if you´re walking alongside one with your child on top...they do get a bit mischievious at times too..and I mean the horses right now not the children...and that can be reeeaally scary.....I wish I could insert a picture but I still don´t know how.Maybe Sjoerd can?

(We holiday in Friesland sometimes.)

My Dad always used to talk in Dutch to my uncle when he didn't want my Mum to know what he was saying, so she spent two years learning (basic) Dutch. Then he started talking in friesian instead :lol:

My English teacher used to say Frisian was a bit like English (I went to Secondary school in Friesland (Lemmer)) Altough I never heard any resemblance
