Its like an edition that predates the publishing of the book to check for mistakes.
They send a certain amount to people to edit for the corrected edition to be published.

I am always after hard copies of the Discworld books. I only have 4 and a few in e-book form. I don't have much to trade but I'm happy to buy and give a new home to books.

Have a look at Abe books. You can pick up the hardbacks for about a pound once your not looking for collectables .

Also got a few off awesome books . search pratchett and then select used and hardback from the dropdown menus. Some really good bargains there from time to time.
Love collecting the hardbacks as well to the point that i have two to three of one or two of the books becasue of signatures or special editions. Ah well.

Anyone looking for reasonably priced Pratchett novels (or other books) - have you tried Alibris.com? There's an UK and an US site, and just now you can, for example, get Wintersmith for 0,65£ + shipping.
