"Snark" Charity Auction Starting March 7

Postby poohbcarrot » Sun Mar 01, 2009 5:31 am

As mentioned previously, I accidently bought this Lewis Carroll 1876 First Edition when I was drunk. I'm going to put it on ebay on Saturday march 7 at a starting price of 1p. I am offering free delivery and 80% of the proceeds will go to Alzheimer's.

To sweeten the deal I'm also offering in the same lot a Terry Pratchett 1987 First Edition Equal Rites hardback. It is a US book club edition.
AND if that wasn't enough, I'm also throwing in a packet of Dried & Shredded "Curious" Squid from the "Agataen" Empire (The squid is NOT price clipped!)

....and if you do something, you might as well do it in style.

A few years ago I bought a load of stuff from ebay and had an exhibtion of British memorabilia. I still have three of the students who started because of the exhibition, so I have recouped the money I spent 50 times over.

I WILL ALSO DONATE 10% OF THE SELLING PRICE OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS

1. 3 signed TP First edition hardbacks Excellent condition not priced clipped (handwritten letter from Colin Smythe guarenteeing the Jingo signature) plus Nation US ARC proof

2. Signed Magaret Thatcher letter (1978), handwritten and signed Edward Heath letter - both letters on House of Commons stationery. Plus signed photos of Blair, Thatcher, Major and Callaghan

3. Official signed Man U ball from 2001/02 season

4. Official signed Arsenal team photo from 2003/04 season

5. Four David Beckham worn-shirt cards, limited edition - very rare.

(Postage is NOT free on these items and the starting price is NOT 1p)

That's amazing! Do you mind if I post a link to this auction on another Pratchett forum? :)

By all means, post it where you like.

I paid 69 pounds for the Snark, so I'm going to price all the others at 69 pounds starting amount.
Postage for the PMs, Beckham cards and Arsenal is 5 pounds.
8 pounds for the ball
12 pounds for the books.

So if everything sells at 70 pounds (inc Snark), that makes nearly 100 pounds for Alzheimer's

EDIT
I was wrong about the postal prices. I checked with the PO and the prices are a bit higher!

Will do. I've got a week to work on the zappy-go-getting wording first.

By the way, five of the lots have a reserve price. The reserve price is 69 pounds. Feel free to bid up to 68 pounds without obligation to buy. It will look good if they each have 20 bids!

The Snark cost me 69 pounds but I'm using headology and put a 250 pound "Buy it now" to make people think they might get a bargain.

I'm only posting this because there were 13 replies to this thread and I'm supersticious.
