Also, don't worry about adding extra characters - we're still plenty short of the average Discworld novel, which usually has at least three protagonists, one main antagonist, a smattering of handy thugs, a few unfortunate bystanders, and a load of less-than-important background individuals.
And at least one zombie.

oh yes, the button i was talking about is supposed to be the newly uncovered self-destruct button of the world with a little glitch, it doesnt work.
I got the basic idea from my friend's story where he mentions a self-destruct button hidden where no one ever goes.... THE LIBRARY
Of course, there'll be a twist to it as this is the UU LIBRARY. (ie. it gets coated in electrocuted banana skins?)

I've continued a bit with the watch members, but I'm not sure about one thing: Am I allowed to use so many side characters? If not, I'll delete the post. I think I'm still not really getting this game...
I'm just a little uncertain.

I think the best solution would be to have your main character - who you exclusively have and control - but can control any number of side characters, assuming that other people can also control them, otherwise we might have to wait for the person who last used the character to post before we can move on.

Yes, of course. Just use as many side characters as you want. OTherwise we'll never get anywhere. It would be good if we could have other people taking them up, but till now we'll just have to control everyone.
