Well he's the earliest, but that's not it as Purcell, the next earliest is in the middle.

There is obviously a logical reason for the sequence . . . it's not the age they were when they died. I need to give this some thought.

I still can't find the reason for that sequence.. not nationality, not religion, not height, not year of birth, not year of death, not the order of instrument played, not the order of films based on their life... there must be something that logically puts them in that order

yes there is and (once you know what it is) it is easy to look up where Dowland fits

The reason for the sequence is readily available and easy to check on the internet unlike album track listings, especially the sort of 'classical hits' album that would have that lot on

It just needs a bit of lateral thinking

Bugger, I thought I had it this time, since those are also names given to asteroids, but the order is not right!! (and dowland isn't there, I think). maybe I'm going too lateral here, I better get back on track asap
