Didn't think that would be what you were looking for, but couldn't hurt to try. Certain I've found the right answer though, but since I've already made a guess I'll hold off.

Ok - I'll post the answer which Mad has verified was correct when I PMed him.

They were the authors of the first ten Penguin books. :)

My question.

Name the writer/writers of the theme music for the BBC version of Antiques Roadshow.

Why were no births, deaths or marriages recorded in Alaska on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th or 15th of October 1867?

I'm still thinking on this one. I'm fairly sure that Alaska became US territory later that month and therefore I'm assuming that period was during the handover and those events didn't get recorded. But I'll need to check and I'm too tired tonight. :)

Ok - I think the answer is that Alaska went from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar. Therefore, for residents, Friday, October 6, 1867 was followed by Friday, October 18, 1867—two Fridays in a row because of the date line shift.

The Julian Calendar is currently 13 day behind the Gregorian Calendar. :)

Which company is the world's biggest tyre manufacturer? And I don't mean who makes the biggest tyres. :P

Why were the feathers from the right wing of certain birds, cheaper than those on the left?

Because wing feathers are used in the fletching of arrows and it is important to use feathers from the same wing. People mistakenly believed that a right handed bowman should use right wing feathers and vice versa, therefore due to the propensity for people to be right handed right wing feathers were in higher demand; due to the laws of supply and demand the prices rose accordingly.

I hadn't thought about that and I'm sure you're right, but that wasn't what I was thinking of. :)
